England in India 2023-24: India win 5th Test by an innings and 64 runs

India have won the fifth and final Test against England by an innings and 64 runs in Dharamsala to clinch the series 4-0.

Resuming their second innings on 209/3, India declared on 278/7, setting England a target of 343. England were bowled out for 278 in their second innings, with Ravichandran Ashwin taking 4/55 and Ravindra Jadeja taking 3/40.

The win gives India their fourth consecutive Test series victory against England, and their first 4-0 sweep since 1984-85.

India's victory was set up by a brilliant batting performance in their first innings, with Rohit Sharma scoring 127 and Virat Kohli scoring 104. England's bowlers struggled to contain India's batsmen, with only James Anderson taking more than two wickets.

England's batsmen were unable to match India's performance in the second innings, with only Jonny Bairstow scoring a half-century. The tourists were bowled out for 278 in their second innings, giving India a comfortable victory.

The win gives India a boost ahead of the World Test Championship final against Australia in June. England, meanwhile, will be disappointed with their performance in India, but will be hoping to bounce back in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
